About the Function Centre

The Barr Smith Boat Shed is located in the heart of the city on the Northern banks of the River Torrens. Having undergone an impressive renovation, which was completed in 2011, the Barr Smith Boat Shed now serves as a superb venue for numerous styles of functions.

With Beer on tap and a kitchen available to caterers the venue can cater for up to 300 people standing and 150 people seated for a dinner.

The venue boasts:-

Newly installed refrigerative and evaporative air conditioning
Wall mounted large gas heater
Simple kitchen facilities (no oven)
2 plasma screen TV's available with full room hire
Large and powerful sound system

Included in the hire are access to the following:-

20 trestle tables (enough for 150 people)
150 white function chairs
Flat plate BBQ
300L fridge
Microwave
Utensils
Cordless microphone

Cocktail Party

The Bar area located in the front third on the western end of the building is excellent for cocktail and work drink events. The bi-fold doors are closed off creating a space capable of catering for up to 110 people.

Engagement Party

Use this elegant space to celebrate that special day in a unique venue that is bursting at the seams with character and charm. Whether it is a small intimate event or a larger celebration of a future life together we can cater for both. Ask about decorators for that little extra touch.

Sit Down Dinner

With the whole area cleared the function centre has the ability to cater for 150 people in a sit down setting. Our 20 trestle tables and 150 chairs will be provided to you as a part of your venue hire. The Shed provides for a wonderfully warm atmosphere for any kind of sit down dinner.

Large Parties

Whether it is a fundraising party, 21st, 30th or 80th the Barr Smith Boat Shed has the ability to have 2 distinct areas that any great party requires; a bar area and a dance floor. The powerful sound system will have your friends dancing to your favourite songs. 2 x 46 inch LCD screens can provide the canvas for those much dreaded embarrassing speeches.
